Brief.
Kokoro stands out as a premier fast-casual restaurant chain in the UK, renowned for its fresh sushi offerings and diverse range of hot dishes. Mark Irlam Design proudly served as external design consultants, entrusted with crafting the aesthetics for numerous locations throughout the South of England. Our role involved adapting and refining the established store concept to suit each new site, while also innovating original fixtures and signage concepts.
Additionally, we took on the responsibility of managing planning and advertising consent applications not only for these sites but also for others within the Kokoro portfolio. This comprehensive approach ensured that every aspect of the design process was meticulously handled, from concept to execution, to create inviting and functional spaces that reflect Kokoro's identity.
Solution.
Drawing inspiration from Kokoro's signature minimalistic and inviting material palette, Mark Irlam Design embarked on the task of revitalizing vacant retail spaces into vibrant sushi bars throughout the UK. With meticulous attention to detail, we crafted distinctive shop frontages and signage concepts tailored to the unique character of each location. As part of the transformation process, we designed custom retail units and restaurant fixtures, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics.
In addition to the indoor spaces, we gave careful consideration to outdoor terraces, coordinating the installation of canopies and sourcing suitable external furniture to enhance the overall dining experience.
Collaborating closely with landlords and their design management teams, we meticulously adhered to all design guidelines while navigating through the intricacies of planning and advertising consent applications. This collaborative effort ensured that each Kokoro establishment not only met but exceeded expectations, delivering inviting and welcoming spaces for customers to enjoy their dining experience.
