Big box retail gets a shake up
Client: GO Outdoors

Project Scope: Retail Design, Format Development, Insight & Strategy, Branding & Graphic Design

Location: Nationwide, UK
Brief.
The nationwide big-box retailer, GO Outdoors, embarked on a transformative journey aimed at capturing the attention of potential customers and solidifying their position as the ultimate destination for cycling enthusiasts.

Solution.
With a sharp focus on the customer journey, a new concept for the department was developed, addressing the needs of specific customers groups.
Bicycles were displayed by discipline, with relevant accessories and clothing elements stationed nearby. Bundles were created allowing customers to purchase all they would need simply at different cost points.
A community focus was brought to the concept with the introduction of localised cycle route map, for both road and mountain bikers. This could be added to over time by local riders or cycling clubs.
Bikes could be trialed on a stationery trainer in front of a video wall of rolling countryside. This also allowed for the gamification of the department, with cyclists testing themselves on professional race routes.
Initially prototyped in a number of test sites the client was looking to roll the new concepts out across the entire estate.
